At some point I will install a Rotax 912 ULS to get a little extra HP and to enhance my ability to go on long cross country flights throughout the US, Canada, and the Caribbean. It is just taking a little longer to save up for a Rotax at $20,000 with accessories as other family priorities must also be addressed.
There are many benefits to the Aerovee. Like Mike Smith mentioned it is good to know your engine inside out and being able to identify and quickly fix absolutely everything on the engine with just a few tools. The parts for an Aerovee are very reasonably priced compared to the Rotax or a Lycomming or Continental.
