Looking for some CCP-44 rivets

Postby mikelupo » Fri Jan 05, 2018 6:14 pm

HI All,
We need some CCP-44 Rivets for our Sonex Project.
Rivets ordered last October on Aircraft Spruce are still on back order. Now we're completely out and in need.
Anyone with any left-over CCP-44 rivets? We'll buy em off ya. I guess having to drill out more than a few has caught up to us.

Let me know here...

Thanks in advance,

Mike Lupo

Have you tried buying from Sonex? They are available in the web store for a good price.

Thank you for your reply.
Our Sonex interface person did try, but according to him, Sonex said we'd have to buy a whole rivet kit (i.e. wing kit). Seemed odd because like you mentioned, I found that I can buy them direct on the site. I wonder if they are so scarce that they're getting harder to get stocked?

Hi all ,mike,
Ace hardware carries ss rivets in 1/8, 5/32, 3/16 dia in 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 in length. A little more expensive in small batches. Sonex sells rivets in batches of 100, or bulk for sub kits or whole kit.

Good luck !

Michael, Thank you for your reply. I'd never think of using Hardware store rivets in my build project, but I guess that's what these CCP's are anyway!

Mike

How many do you need? I think I have a bunch left over I could part with.

I'd be afraid to use hardware store rivets. Jeremy told me they did a bunch of testing especially when they got a new source of rivets.

Hi all , bryan ,
The rivets im refering to are stainless steel made by Arrow Fastner Co. , saddlebrook , nj. Like alot of things today they are made in china. Iv'e gotten good batches of rivets from sonex , and some not so good, where they tend to break off proud. Yes, checked the gun pressure, and no the holes were not oversized. Gordon mentioned he was building a onex, and the second hand kit he purchased w sonex rivets, tended to break off proud. He ordered new batch from aircraft spruce. That batch he got was good. I 've ordered ss rivets from spruce too. Good luck with those too, but i think could be the luck of the draw no matter where they come from. The small packages from arrow are about $5 for 20. Ive used a few here and there when ran short of a few. Always pulled well and not any broke proud.
Just wanted to clarify , what rivets i was talking about.
I buy 95% of my rivets from sonex. The other 5% are the spruce or arrow rivets.
Have fun riveting!

Hello Bryan,

I'm sorry for any confusion that may have come from our shop on this. You absolutely do NOT have to buy a whole rivet kit. We sell blind rivets of all types used in the Sonex in minimum quantities of 100. CCP-44's can be purchased at: http://www.sonexaircraft.com/eshop/cart.php?target=category&category_id=291

Regards,
-Mark
