Oil cooler seal squish

Postby lutorm » Tue Nov 14, 2017 7:30 pm

I'm making an adapter plate for the oil cooler outlet on our Aerovee and I'm wondering if someone has one of the Sonex adapter plates used for the top oil coolers that they can look up the dimension of the oil seal holes off of? I know the seal holes in the engine are 16mm OD and 4mm deep, but I don't have a set of seals to measure at the moment.

The seals appear to be cylindrical so I'm assuming the holes in the oil cooler adapter plate are also 16mm OD but the critical question is the depth since that will determine the squish.

Both the top and bottom reliefs measure 1.5mm deep on my adapter. The holes themselves have a slight radius, so it's a little hard to measure the diameter exactly, but I keep coming up with 15.3-15.5mm. The instructions call for the cylindrical seals for the bottom and the thin flanged seals for the top. Hope this helps.
