A better oil pressure sender

Postby kevinh » Thu Jul 27, 2017 11:58 am

Hi ya'll,

Does anyone know of a better sender than the VDO single contact sender that came with my aerovee turbo? Ideally something with a second terminal (to make it easier to ground) and lower mass (because it is hanging off of a fitting about 2" from the case). I'm basically okay with using the VDO I have but hoping there is something better out there.

I can look for the part number when I get back from Oshkosh but VDO does make a two terminal oil pressure sender. One terminal is the output and the other is a ground. I found it at a marine supply store

Here it is. I suppose if you thought vibration was a problem you could use the ground connector and build a bracket that came off it and attached to the case.

Thanks Keith - though that one looks to be using the second contact for a warning light (which might be serve as a ground until the sensor thinks the light needs to go on). I'll look at the VDO site and see if I can find one with a ground as the second connector.

Could be I just mixed up the one I found online. The one I have on my aerovee the second post is a ground.

Try this one Kevin. It says its for floating ground. Either terminal can be ground.

I think with most other VDO sensors the ground point is the thread. G terminal sense and WK terminal the switch.
