Jim, your videos are gorgeous and place me positions that I will never be in person. I must ask how high were you flying around Denali? It appeared that you weren't that far from the peak which is over 20,000 feet! My one and only flight around Denali (then Mt. Mckinley) was in 1999 and it was completely blanketed in clouds so that I didn't see a thing.

Very impressive, thanks for the experience,

I was around 15,500'. The main peak is over 20,000. As I flew around, there were various other peaks above my altitude that I had to fly round as well. I started the video at Mt Foraker and flew towards Denali. The first side view is the main peak.

I just uploaded an uncut version of my flight around Denali. It's pretty long but gives a good feel for how big that mountain is.

Highlights with funny over exaggerated build up :)

Next, off to see the eclipse in Garden Valley next weekend.

I am officially on the forum schedule for 2018

"Alaska Highway in a Sonex"
Wednesday July 25th - 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM - Homebuilders Hangar
"A newbie's guide on how to prepare for and fly the Alaska Highway in a small (LSA class) aircraft with pictures and stories from my flight."

I'm looking for moral support so I hope you can all come by if you're at AirVenture!

Come out for Jim's Alaska Trip talk, then stay immediately after to hear Isaac talk about his teen build project. It will be a Sonex-forum afternoon!
