Am I missing something or Sonex is no longer selling Jabiru engines. This is all I could find on their site.
I sure hope not!


Jabiru and CAMit Aero Engines

Sonex Aircraft has learned on October 10, 2016 that CAMit Aero Engines has closed its doors. At the current time, we are still offering engine mounts for CAMit/Jabiru 3300 engines, and our Sonex/Jabiru Cooling Baffle Kit and Installation Guide are still available from our AeroConversions product line.

P.S. Anyone running UL260is on their A model Sonex ?

Looks to me the are not resellers of Jabirus anymore. Probably due to contractural issues by reselling Camits, which went Tango Uniform.
Doesn't mean you can't buy a Jabiru directly from Pete at JabiruNA. And it looks like Sonex will continue to offer firewall forward kits for them. Just can't buy one through them. They may again.

Camit made the Jabiru engines and also the offshoot Camit engines, so with the Camit engine factory gone there is now no one to make Jabiru engines.

Don't think that's correct. Camit made some of the parts for Jabiru. Jabiru then assembled the engines using these parts, plus parts supplied by other manufacturers. Not sure what parts were supplied by Camit but eventually Jabiru will have to find other suppliers.

This is making it very hard for those of us ready to order the engine.Sonex has been supporting and selling Jabiru engines since the beginning and now all of the sudden has stopped; what does this mean? Maybe nothing,maybe just a business decision or maybe more to it.
As far as UL260is, do they provide firewall forward kit and support or just the motor mounts that was already there for Jabiru 2200?
I know the B model is the future for Sonex,and they're spending most of their time and the resources on it and I can't blame them for that, but there are a lot of us here that are building the legacy Sonex and some that bought the old kit but haven't even started on it.
We are not all mechanical engineers and we need help from Sonex. It would be nice and appreciated if Sonex would comment on this .

I do not speak for Sonex at all of course, but as an owner of a Sonex with a Jab:

1. Sonex has a good firewall forward kit and instructions for the Jab3300 and they still do.
2. You can acquire the engine from other sources if for commercial reasons at the moment Sonex isn't distributing it.

Unless I am missing something, I wouldn't be too concerned. Jabiru themselves are impacted by Camit and it is probably best to check back with them directly. I imagine there are still plenty of engines available and I am pretty confident they will be finding new ways to manufacture the parts that Camit made.

It is of course a great shame the Camit is no longer with us - their variant looks to have been a fine piece of work (and still is).

As we had made the switch and were all-set to sell CAMit engines before the surprise news of their closure, we are no-longer selling Jabiru engines, however, customers may still source new Jabiru engines directly from Jabiru North America, or other dealers internationally. We still also sell our Universal Jabiru Baffle Kit and Sonex/Jabiru Installation Guide, and can still offer Sonex-specific installation support to builders.

The closure of CAMit took us, and the U.S. CAMit dealer quite by surprise. We hope that Ian Bent can come-back to market with the CAMit platform some day in the future.

As others have mentioned in this thread, UL260-series engines will work with our existing Jabiru 2200 Std-Gear and Tri-Gear engine mounts for legacy aircraft, however, the UL250-series engines are just a little too heavy for the 2200 mount structure. I spoke to Robert Helms from UL Power North America this afternoon, and they do have 3rd party support available to make 350-series engine mounts for legacy Sonex aircraft.
