RDAC-X power supply

Postby Lsaircraft » Sat Sep 17, 2016 7:11 pm

Hey guys still running wires here, Question is I have a 2 amp breaker switch to power up the MGL do I run the RDAC Power supply wire to the back of this switch also or does that need more power to run the senders? Thanks TJay Larsen

Hmm, the manuals aren't too informative on that are they? I have the old Stratomaster Ultra Horizon with the monochrome screen. I run that plus the RDAC plus a Microaire radio through a 5 amp fuse. I think my main concern there was enough power for the radio on transmit. Going by the size of the wires you'd have to say that the instruments don't draw much current and 2 amps should be plenty, but the colour screen must draw more current than the monochrome one. This might be a question for the dealer.

I have the Enigma and I believe the power for the rdac comes from the instrument, not a separate power source. The breaker that protects the instrument would also protect the rdac.

Thanks, I think I found it, looks like I can use the MGL switch for both the instrument and RDAC, this is copied right from the book, (

The red wire is to be connected to +12VDC. This connection would normally be provided via your aircrafts master switch or instrument power supply switch. This cable should not be connected to the battery positive terminal directly without a power switch as this would result in your battery being drained when the system is not in use.)
