Awesome videos: Re sd card errors from the gopro - check your sd cards. There are _lots_ of fakes out there (and brands like Kensington really just label whatever they can find for cheap). The fakes will commonly use rejects or even have hacks to claim to be a 16GB (or whatever) card when actually anything written after the first 4GB gets discarded ;-).

(I used to debug sd-card firmware)
Taildragger Waiex in progress, tail done, wings done, about to mate wings to fuse,
then cowl, canopy, paint (photos): flush rivets, turbo aerovee, acro ailerons
(I built my RV7A and happily flew it for about 500 hrs)

I've been meaning to do a write up on the aux tanks and I'll work on it for the next newsletter. I bought them from a fellow who is no longer making them but they are basically 4" aluminum tubes that have been fit to the Sonex. This is a modification that has lots of potential issues with the airframe and safety and should only be undertaken if you're willing to accept that you are modifying the aircraft well outside of the factory's recommendation. (My first spin had a very high pucker factor due to the obvious increased angular momentum from the extra mass in the wings). My reward, however, is an excellent cross country machine (and she recovers easily from spins).

I'm on vacation so I've had some time to edit my videos. Here is the first flight of my nephew in the Waiex. He and the other nephews helped put the wings on where they have remained every since - good job boys!

AirVenture 2016

Postby hickej » Fri Aug 12, 2016 1:46 am

I've finished editing my AirVenture 2016 videos and posted them to YouTube. I had an unexpected take-down message from YouTube regarding copyright music. Since I didn't use copyright music I was confused until I listened and heard background music from the airshow speakers in my video. (I mean really, what am I supposed to do about that?) Anyhow, I turned down the sound and covered it with another legal music track and it seems to work. I broke the video up into three parts:

Part 1 - Flight out (San Diego to Sedona with views into the Winslow AZ crater and bagdad mine, jogging around the airport with views of the monuments, flight to Taos, Colorado Springs and then on to TrikeFest'16 and skirting a storm into Oshkosh)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ-sCO5hitk

Part 2 - The Show (Arrivals on 27 until a gear-up Mooney shut it down, Sonex mass taxi, Chinese entertainment at Sonex Party)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaPqvRJGnII

Part 3 - The Return (Packup and taxi by show, minimum interval takeoffs, flight across the Plains, Mountains, out running a storm and a beautiful sunset from the air)

Jim

I've had several videos flagged by YouTube for background noise or audio. The worst was a video of just flying around with the Jabiru engine noise in the background. They said it was a motorsports something or other. I challenged it by claiming the audio was "an original composition and I am the copyright holder"! It's still pending....

Yep, Youtube is really getting ridiculous with the copyright stuff... Like anyone is going to click your video to hear the song that is playing on the background speakers, they are going to click on it for the airplane stuff. I don't think the artists have to worry about loosing millions of dollars from us using a song in our videos.

Best thing would be if the video is monetized and you are making a lot of money off the video and are using a song in the background then after so many views you have to pay a royalty out of the money you made from the video. Simple as that.

Great videos Jim, glad to have been able to say hi to you at Osh. If I were 50 year younger I'd be doing what you do but I think have some time left to push my Onex around the midwest.
