Well put Noel. I obviously fit in that particular generation you mentioned, but I'm trying to get a handle and more importantly to me, a comfort level, with these new pretty incredible batteries.

The reasons I'm planning on two batteries mostly revolve around the abrupt way they die, and the fact that my motor is electric dependent. After I run the first one down, quite possibly by my own fault, I want a backup that really is the find a place to land backup. I also think I will be able to use two batteries minimally sized for starting my engine, that can be easily combined for example on cold day starting.

Hi Gordon,

You are right about wanting two batteries.
I have a dual battery installation in my Viking Waiex.
I installed them in the tail for W&B purposes.
I am using Shorai batteries, but when it is time for replacement I'll go with the EarthX.
If you are interested in the installation details, go to www.mykitlog.com/donbowen

Best of luck with your Corvair Waiex!

I had an Aerovoltz/Ballistic lithium which worked great until I left the master on.
These EarthX claim to have a discharge protection circuit which should save you.
I've gone back to lead/acid because its cheaper and I am a bit tail heavy anyways.
I put the 8 year old Odyssey back in and it has been doing yeoman's work until this fall. Now I'm seeing it taking a lot of voltage when I charge it with my smart charger (17V). I think its end of life.

I asked EarthX if the battery charger I have for my Odyssey could be used on the EarthX. I told them I have one like this:

And they said, "It is fine to use with the EarthX battery line as it does not have a desulfinating mode."
