Exhaust heat on intake pipes and oil lines 3300

I showed my local A&P my install so far and he was concerned about the close distance between the exhaust pipes and the intake pipes and oil cooler lines. The #2 exhaust pipe was less than an 1/8" away from the intake. We were able to bend to 1/4" and he was happy with that.

I am thinking of riveting a deflector plate to the oil cooler, as David A. has done, or wrap the exhaust pipes for 6 to 8" from the EGT sensors down. I would wrap them equally in length to keep the EGT readings consistent. I am also putting Firesleve on the oil lines.

Are these logical ideas or totally unnecessary? I am thinking long term, keeping the heat away from the oil lines and intake joiners.

With the Inhibitor kit I am hoping the CAMit will make it to at least 1000 hrs. until any internal engine work.

If you wrap your exhaust pipes, it will reduce the radiant heat dramatically. I think fire sleave on the oil lines is unnecessary. Just my 2 cents and worth every penny.

If you add that baffle bolt it on with a couple of small (#6) screws and lock nuts. Easier to install and remove oil cooler baffle that way.
