heat treat stainless exhaust?

Do you mean heat treating where you stick the parts in an oven up around 1000C? I don't think there is much need for that. If you mean coating or wrapping the exhaust, that I plan to do. I will probably wrap mine. It is good to keep the heat out of the engine bay.

I was thinking more along the lines of sending the exhaust to a place in N. carolina for ceramic coating, around 275 with a lifetime guarantee...... sounds better than the wraping......any experience with either?

I have mine wrapped. 70 hours and no sign of any issues under the wrap after pulling it off for the annual. It does seem to have a big influence on under cowl temperatures. If it is really needed I don't know. I just added it because it was inexpensive and figured it couldn't hurt especially with the gas line running a few inches away. Not sure I would spend $275 to have it coated though.

I was thinking of coating and wrapping mine as well but decided to how its the wrap alone. My concern around doing both is the exhaust could get to too hot if you do both. I have read it is best to do one or the other. And that's why I went with wrap...it came with the exhaust.

Likewise for me, at 140 hours. No degradation of the exhaust at all (which is one of the arguments against wrapping). Definitely keeps the temps down under the cowl.

I had mine ceramic coated by a local company here in Phoenix. They did both inside and out for $225. I have only test started my aerovee a couple of times so I don't have any experience to share yet. Other local people have had good results on other engines with them.

I had mine ceramic heat-treated (with the exhaust manifold), but after some bad burps I wrapped it also (along with rerouting and insulating the fuel line). No problems since. No evidence of complications doing both.
