Onex main forward spar plans ONX-W16

The plans call for 170 AN470AD5-16 rivets for the upper and lower angle caps but I count only 160. What am I missing?

Sounds like you're missing some rivets!

I think ACS lets you order rivets in as small as 0.13 lbs, so shouldn't be more than about $2.28 (plus shipping.) Just keep a list going of misc hardware to buy and throw an order together once you're about to need some parts, to save on repeated shipping costs.

I've run into issues like this a few times, the hardware lists aren't always as up to date as the plans so the hardware kits from places like ACS/Wicks are sometimes a few parts short. That said, the hardware list on sonex website does call for 170 rivets.

It's always good to have extra rivets on hand since they're cheap and you're bound to have to drill some of them out during the process. Since the orders are by weight and not by count, however much was in your hardware kit was probably a few ounces short of 170.

Ryan, I am only assuming here, but I think he means that he can only find in the graphical plans where 160 rivets will be set, although it says 170 in text. Sorry I don't have an answer to that question, however.

Yes. On the drawing ONX-16, the plan state, "Qty 170 Required through upper and lower angle caps". But if you count the rivets illustrated on the plans, I find only 160. The plans also state, "DO NOT install solid rivets at Rib Attach locations. I took this into account but I still only find 160 AN470AD5-16 rivets illustrated for the upper and lower angle caps.

You are correct. Excluding the 18 exceptions below there are 160 holes that require AN470AD5-16 rivets through the upper and lower Angle Caps on page ONX-W16. I recently completed the center wing main spar and installed 160.

The places that do not require those rivets at the upper and lower angles are at Detail C, D, E, F (16 holes (8 ribs x 2 rivets)) on each side of the spar also 2 holes, labeled No Rivets 2 Places, on the upper angle.
