Just soloed for the first time over the weekend! It was in a 2-33 glider, but that puts me one step closer to my ultimate goal of piloting my Sonex :P
I was surprisingly calm actually and greased the landing, but there was a point about 50ft in the air after takeoff when the reality of it hit me, "there's no one in the back to save your ass if anything goes wrong" I thought to myself. Now that my flight training will start taking less of my time in the foreseeable future, that will leave more time to actually start building later this year.

Congratulations Mike! A big step. Learning to fly in a glider is an awesome way to do it.

Way to go Mike. Is that Tehachapi? Hope to see you on the 17th at Fox.

It's skysailing.com in Temecula, I can highly recommend their operation to anyone interested in gliding.

My instructor is the guy in the middle of this clip [url] He's a national club class champion this year

They'll be flying at the Miramar airshow this weekend.

I'll be at Fox later this month for sure.

When you go for that first ASEL rating, do it in tailwheel. Then get yourself in that Pawnee that I see in the picture. It is a great airplane.
