My last memory of Jeremy Monnett was when he helped me strap my Onex kit to my car trailer at the conclusion of the 60th builder's workshop two days before he passed away. We talked for about 10 minutes after everything was secure; mostly about family. Jeremy told me how his little boy Miles was crazy about airplanes and loved to visit Sonex and see his dad and grandpa. I drove home that night feeling great after spending two days with such a terrific group of people. Now I feel terrible that such a talented young man with so much love for his family was taken too soon.

My sincere condolences to the entire Sonex family.

In every interaction that I had with Jeremy during the numerous visits I have had to the Sonex factory over the years, he has struck me as a cheerful, approachable, and friendly guy who loved what he did.

I sit here now in the final stages of my own Waiex project trying to decide how I should react to this tragedy.. But the only answer I can come up with is to work even harder on the finishing touches of Waiex #142. Jeremy, I can't think of a better way to honor what you worked for than by getting another Sonex into the air.

Let's learn from this tragedy.. Keep building.. Keep flying.

I built Onex SN 0033 and have enjoyed flying it. Jeremy came up with a great design and with the folding wings, we have 3 planes in a standard T-hangar-two Onexs and an RV4. I am just throwing out a suggestion here-how about some stickers we can put on our Sonex planes-Jeremy and Mike's name on some wings that we can attach to our aircraft so whenever we go flying, their spirit is with us. We could charge say $10.00 for the decal and the profits would go to a scholarship at the Tech School Mike went to or EAA Foundation in their names. Just brainstorming here-hope some artistic type can pick it up the idea and improve on it.

I was thinking the same. Maybe "Jeremy" in script, passing through the opening inside a yellow ribbon.

Such a loss. Like many others, every time I saw Jeremy he was smiling and upbeat. I was camping one year at Sleepy Hollow private campground adjacent to Airventure. At the campground after a long hot day, I literally bumped into him while heading for the showers. Even on his personal time, on his way to see friends, he took time to talk to me. I would proudly display a decal on my Sonex.

My wife and I send our thoughts to Mike's and Jeremy's family.

Truly a tragic loss to the aviation community as well as Sonex, and families.

Wondering if anyone here has the background and time to setup a memorial fund perhaps with EAA Young Eagles or the like, as Jeremy was always keen to promote aviation to young folks. ?

Instead of doing an external memorial for Jeremy, what about a memorial for promoting and funding Sonex safety programs through the Sonex Builder's and Pilot's Foundation similar to the AOPA Air Safety Foundation?

Such an unexpected and shocking event. Condolences to the Sonex family--at Oshkosh, online here in our "virtual" world, and wherever they (we) fly.
