Push rods - Wall thickness??

So due to my backwards thinking, I cut my pushrods too long and then assembled them. After finding it near impossible to remove the ends and shorten them, I bought a new set of cut to length pushrods from my local VW hot rod shop.

After cuting them and staring at them, I noticed the wall thickness of the tubes looked awfully thin.... to confirm, I cut one of my previous pushrods from Sonex, and sure enough, the Sonex pushrods had wall thickness of about 1.6mm, while the new "hot rod shop" push rods were only about .7mm thick....

Maybe that's just how they are making them now?? anyone have a recent kit they want to look at there pushrod wall thickness for me?
