Flew again today down to an airport in the next county. Last time I tried to make the 1st turn off I flat spotted a tire very badly. With the new hydraulic brakes I pulled on the lever pretty hard and the plane slowed faster than with the mechanical brakes and the right side did not lock up! It felt really good. My mechanical brakes never worked correctly on one side despite lots of work. I am happier now and feel safer taxiing and using the brakes on landing. BTW wind on landing was 15 gusting to 20 at 90 degrees from the right side. The left rudder was just about on the floor so this is about the limit for landing with a right x-wind for me on the Waiex.
