Wing/Empennage Stand

Postby sonex1678 » Thu May 07, 2015 11:08 am

I thought the mod I made to the wing stand previously discussed on the forum might be of interest to some builders. I constructed the center box/support out of 2x10 instead of 2x4 so that the empennage (horiz and vert stabs, rudder, and elevator) could be stored inside of the box/support section. I then increased the length of the leg sections by 6" to compensate for the increased box size. I also used 2x6 for the legs (where the wheels attach) and wing supports, mostly because it was what I had on-hand. The stand was built rather quickly so workmanship is adequate but not necessarily "pretty", and the straps to hold the wings have not yet been added as the wings are not yet completed, but I'm sure you get the idea. The advantage is that the empennage components can now be stored on the rack with the wings....

Also, the center box/support section was increased to 8' so the horiz. stab would inside of it....
