For a new build I'd go w the sonex gear legs, tob axels(for the ease of jacking up the plane and mounting the sonex hyd brakes) . I had to turn up a 3/8" spacer between the axle plate and the brake backing plate. Pretty solid with 4 bolts holding it on.
The wheel pants are attached with 2 10/32 threads tapped into the brake plate. I machined an alloy stub to insert into the axle end, drilled and tapped for a single 10/32 screw. The insert is held in place with the cotter pin.
A stub on the brake handle locks behind the flap handle for a park brake.
Works adequately for what I want.
Nice to know the Sonex hydraulic units fit the axle too.
