There are at least two Bob Hoovers in aviation. The famous airshow and test pilot is still alive. The other Bob Hoover is well known for his work on VW engines. He passed away August 13, 2010.

Completed the oil system installation today.
I have a hose going from the pump cover plate to the oil filter along the right side and back side of the engine, then from there back to the oil cooler on the left side, then coming out of the right side of the cooler back to the engine where it was drilled and tapped for the oil return.
The hoses have been insulated with speedflow hose insulation material and the fittings have been wrapped with heat wrap tape.

All I can say is I did it and took it off. Just change the oil often and forget it.

Why did you decide to remove it again?
Was it causing problems or did you just not see the benefit?

I only have 80 hours on my engine, but I've done 4 oil changes and sent in 4 samples for analysis. I've cleaned the screen 2 times. The last time there was only a few particles of carbon, and nothing else visible. The oil analysis are coming back fine. Accessing the screen is a pain, but so far the engine hasn't shown a need for a traditional filter. It would be nice not to have to get to that screen, though.

No. Change oil every 25 hours so you can adjust the valves and avoid another single point of failure. Blew an oil cooler from high pressure and got intimate with a bean field, I think an oil filter can would have blown at a lower pressure than the cooler but I could be wrong. Had a cardinal with just an oil screen and 25 hour oil changes that didn't run out till 2600 hours. Filters are for constant speed props.

I am flying with the Aerovee. I installed an oil filter. I thought it would help with cooling, I realized it increased the number of failure points in my system. I was pleased with the set up until one cold morning (26°F) after engine start oil pressure went to 0. (I had no means of preheating). I immediately shut down and found I had blown the gasket out of the top of the filter. I was using racing filters because I was told they were stronger and made to take more abuse. Luckily I had no damage to the engine, just a big mess to clean up. I will be removing the filter when I upgrade to the turbo. The turbo comes with a reusable internal oil filter. I can't speak to any differences in performance or cooling at this time. If I had it to do over I wouldn't install the external filter. I would consider the internal filter instead. Besides fewer points of failure, there would be some weight savings.

Just to clarify, the turbo itself does not come with a filter. The conversion requires the new mini sump.

As part of the turbo kit a mini sump assembly with integral filter is included.

It is AeroConversions p/n ACV-P06-75 per my manual.
