Mixture cable

Postby Rynoth » Wed Mar 25, 2015 9:03 am

What has everyone used for a mixture cable? I'm looking at the chart of controls that ACS offers and am trying to decide what would be best.

I used the one recommended in the plans. I only have 2 flights but so far it is easy to use. Here is a link for the one I bought from ACS.

I used the A-790 vernier control. It's a lot larger than other options so can't be easily mounted on the mixture bracket that Sonex provides with the throttle quadrant. I find that I don't use the vernier feature as much as I thought I would, but I'm still pretty happy with it.

Started with ACS A-700 Button lock type…. too much hassle trying to push release button then to set mixture. Switched to ACS A-740 Ratchet type (same as my previous Decathlon)…. much easier to use and set.

ACS A 790 here.
I've played with the A700 in other Sonex and find it hard to fine tune. The 790 is indeed larger and you may need to relocate or fabricate a new bracket for the throttle quadrant. I like my 790.

I currently have the ACS 700A. I am in the process of replacing it. I am going with the 790 vernier style but I am getting the end with the threads on it that will connect to an AN spec fork that will then connect to the mixture arm. I do not like the straight wire, lawnmower style control. I want a little more peace of mind going with AN spec controls and fittings.
