Mark in Ohio

All,

Greetings. I'm learning about the Sonex (I haven't bought plans yet) and look forward to pawing through the pages here and chiming in with a newby question now and then.

Welcome Mark! Where in Ohio are you located? If you happen to be in central Ohio, my mostly-completed Waiex is at Marysville, OH (KMRT) in a t-hangar. I live in Westerville and fly out of KCMH.

Welcome to the board! :)

Michael,
Howdy. We're near Dayton ("Birthplace of Aviation"--the Chamber of Commerce makes us say that). I may take you up on the kind invitation. One of the questions I've got is whether my bride and I will fit in a Sonex comfortably. We do okay in a C-152, which I guess is technically narrower across the shoulders than a Sonex, but nothing will take the place of actually sitting in one before I order plans.

Thanks for the note.

Hi Mark,

My pleasure. I try to spend at least one or two evenings per week and one weekend day at my hangar, working on the plane. My cell is 614-595-3521 and email is michaelfarley56@gmail.com if you ever would like to arrange a visit. Heck, if the weather's ever nice just fly the 150 over and say hi!

I think if you'll fit in a 152 you'll fit in a Sonex. The difference though, will be in entry/exit. A 152 with doors is much easier to "put on" then having to climb up, lift a leg, and drop into the Sonex. I'm a normal-sized but not a huge guy (6' and 185lb), and it's a little awkward getting in and out of the Sonex/Waiex for me. If I was 6'4 and 250lb I imagine it would be a real chore.
