1500 mile round trip to Austin, Texas

Postby gammaxy » Tue Jan 27, 2015 11:36 pm

My son and I flew our Aerovee-powered Sonex on a round-trip flight from Huntsville, Alabama to Austin, Texas.

I logged 12.6 hours (including time spent taxiing) for an average speed of 119 mph (typical cruise TAS was 137 mph).

I'm jealous. We just got 34" of snow today in Boston! Gotta' at least go clean off the wings tomorrow.

No snow on my wings in Illinois. Besides being in a heated hangar, all the wing parts are still in boxes. Looks like a great trip!

I'll be even more jealous when one of you northern Sonex folks posts pictures from Alton Bay B18.
