Wing skins in pallet

Question for e crowd

We got our wing kit early, not working on it yet. Currently the pallet is in my parking space in the garage....I need to put my car there and am wondering if the wing skins in the pallet will be ok if the pallet is safely stored on edge instead of flat...?

Anyone have a clue? Don't want to bug tech support with this one...

Robbie,one thing that was made very clear to all of us that attended the last workshop was that a big part of the money we send to them for our kits includes unlimited tech support,so I honestly wouldn't worry about bothering them.
I would guess that it makes no difference as long as it was done gently,and someone may tell you they did it with no problem but maybe he got lucky .I believe it was President Reagan that said "Trust but verify".I am sure you can trust everyones judgement here ;) but you have paid for the right to verify.

Robbie, after handling all of the parts of the aircraft hundreds of times, I cannot see how storing the skins on edge, in the pallet, would be a problem. There may be some shifting when placing it up the first time and that would be the only caution. Even out of the pallet would be OK with a bit of care.

I store all my skins that way, out of the pallet between two sheets of plywood. I put the butcher paper from in the pallet between each skin. So far just the normal handling scuffs.

No problem at all. I started my project in New Hampshire, and then moved to California after a few months. I re-built a similar palet to the one that they shipped in and had a moving company lug all of my stuff (including the whole kit) 3000 miles for me. I carefully explained to the crew that the large palet must remain flat for the entire voyage. Not 5 minutes later i saw the crew literally throwing it into the back of the truck. When it arrived, (in a different truck) it was vertical in the truck (the tall way). I was absolutely furious and made quite a scene about it (felt bad for the guy who delivered everything, as he was not the guy who packed it up on the east coast).

In any event, even after all that abuse there was absolutely no damage to the skins at the end of that long voyage. I learned a valuable lesson however, that i will never higher a professional moving company again in my life (i think those self-packing pods are the way to go).
