Last weekend I made a wing stand. I used Eric Witherspoon's plans and modified the base so I could use larger wheels. I have a lot of rough terrain so the wheels will come in handy. I figured out how to get the photo on her also.

Started the engine. I got the crank and parts cleaned. Added locktite to the allen screws. The crank is in the freezer for tomorrow.

The work on the engine has been slow due to 14 hour work days which only lets me get 45 minutes in on week days. Here is what I have done so far. There have been a few set backs but all have been resolved. This has taken me about 19 hours so far. I am going slow and making sure everything is right. I have had to split the case and double check the end play because I did not feel confident about how it went the first time. Here are a few photos.

Here is an update on the engine build. Everything has gone very smoothly. I had to get bolts that were slightly shorter than the ones that came with the oil pump because the ones supplied seemed to bottom out and I do not want to crack the case. Cutting the pushrods and installing the ends was very easy to do. I used a special c-clamp from work to press the ends in. Others have used furniture clamps. I was able to torque the gland nut using a pipe over my socket wrench and doing the math to use my body weight to get it to 227 ft lbs. I was able to get the engine off the mount and onto the table by myself. That thing is HEAVY. I am ready to mount the accessory plate.
I have tons of photos on flicker also at https://www.flickr.com/photos/90889513@N04/

Hi Dana,

Your engine is a great looking example of an Aerovee! I did notice that it appears a few of the case nuts don't go on far enough to engage the nylon lock portion of the nut. Is that the way they are sent now? Is that acceptable? Perhaps they are and the photo is a bit deceiving.

Not meant to be critical, just curious ...
