Rotec TBI Setup

I have a Rotec TBI on my Jab 3300 that I'm finally getting around to setting up. I am hoping to not re-invent the wheel installing it.

I originally had the Aero Injector installed and never got it to run well enough to be happy wtih it. I built the Sonex plans air shuttle box and I currently have the Sonex throttle quadrant installed.

I'm looking for advise on. carb heat set-ups, cables, air filters used, NACA vent used for intake? Any pictures of a set-up that is working well would be appreciated. I have a tailwheel but will be happy to look at anyone's set-up.

I installed a Rotec TBI on my Sonex tri-gear 1537 and have over 30 hours on it now. I installed traditional vernier push-pull cables. I really like the accurate control of throttle & mixture. The air filter in the filter box is 4-in OD by 2-in thick. I have both carb heat & ram air through a damper to select which I want. The neat thing about the Rotec TBI is that it automatically adjusts for the increased ram air to maintain proper mixture. (Sonex recommends against ram-air with their AeroCarb TBI because it changes the mixture) My caution to you would be that the comments Rotec makes in their information is that you are responsible for the intake system to the engine to make sure equal mixture gets to each cylinder so they run balanced and not one rich and another lean. I had to build a new intake manifold to improve the balance since the spray bar is not symmetrical in the throttle body. I have two fuel pumps, but found out that it still runs fine from gravity from the main fuel tank. I'm very pleased with it's performance. I fly with much more confidence now. Good to hear your Rotec TB is working OK I personaly would not have any thing from Rotec on my aircraft read my post Rotec LCheads Danger.
The only thing I can say if you buy from Rotec dismantle it and inspect it carefully. Cheers Allycol

You have spoken badly about Rotec before on the LCH thread. If you have had a bad experience with Rotec that's unfortunate. It would be helpful to have the above questions answered to as the validity of your comments on this site.

The rotec tbi is working just fine on my aerovee. I'd say it's just someone with a big gripe with Rotec.

I have noticed that often a correlation exists between basic grammar skills and critical thinking skills. When someone fills their thread with run-on sentences to facilitate their attacks, it is usually best to discount their two cents worth.

I have seen a picture of a rotec fuel regulator with a solenoid to depress the plunger instead of some cable operated lash up. I would like to use that idea and need to know what solenoid was used, etc. It seems like a great idea to me,
