Saw it happen on a different brand of ELT when I used to support avionics at Sikorsky in Elmira. One of the boffins set it off and initially NOAA called the ELT manufacturer who said that we bought it. Gave the position of the ELT factory.

I went on aircraft spruce and you will find a factory generated FAQ which states it uses the last GPS fix. Also gives a factory email address for other obscure questions.

Bryan - I would hope so, but the ACK website doesn't actually state this in the documentation I could find.

That is the info I have as well, signals are constantly fed to the ELT. which uses latest when triggered, and for the record, same ACK ELT interfaces very nicely with GPS output from my GRT Sport SX

You could also buy or recycle an old tech GPS, like a Garmin III or pilot III. Just needs a NEMA input.
