Are you thinking of upgrading to a 3300?

Postby jwd3ca » Wed Nov 05, 2014 9:00 am

Maybe we can work something out. I'm looking to replace my 3300 (which now lives happily in my Zentih CH750) with an AeroVee. So I have a Sonex 3300 engine mount and Prince prop/spinner that I no longer have a use for. So if you secretly wish you could swap out your AeroVee for a 3300, this might be just the incentive you need :) Let's talk!

Hello J.,

As someone that is hunting for a Zenith 601 or a Sonex (with all the considerations about what engine she should have...) I'm really interested to know...why?

Why do you want to replace a Jabiru 3300 with an Aerovee?

Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Ah, easy: I removed the 3300 from my Sonex to power my latest build Zenith CH750. Overkill, you say? Maybe, but it made sense in many ways, especially in light of the fact that the 750 may find itself on amphib floats one day in the not-too-distant future ;')

And the reasonable cost and more-than-adequate performance of the AeroVee in the Sonex make it a good choice to re-power my Sonex.

Contact me off-line if you'd be interested in purchasing my "just-add-engine' Sonex airframe, I could be convinced to sell as-is...

I just realized that you aren't actually selling a 3300.. just the 3300 engine mount. Correct? It's not totally clear in your original post.

My apologies if my post was unclear. Let me elaborate:

- I have a Sonex that used to have a 3300 engine.
- Recently, I removed the 3300 from the Sonex and installed it into my latest build, a CH750.
- Now the Sonex has no engine.
- But I still have the original 3300 engine mount AND the prince prop AND the Sonex spinner, since none of those work with the CH750 installation.
- I will likely re-power the Sonex with an AeroVee.
- Maybe there is someone out there who wants to upgrade their Sonex/AeroVee to a 3300. But not my 3300, it currently powers my flying CH750. Some other 3300, maybe new, maybe used, whatever.
- If so,maybe you would be interested in selling me your AeroVee.
- And if so, I could supply you the engine mount and prop/spinner you need for your 3300 upgrade.
