Waiex 0162 Trips

Postby hickej » Mon Sep 29, 2014 2:51 am

I just got back from a trip to Sedona with my wife and she and I shot some video using the iPhone5. There's no great music like some of you guys use, but I hope you enjoy the video of our Waiex flying and the Sedona scenery. The flight was from KRNM to KSEZ and then back with a stop at KHII for fuel.

On the way out there were thunderstorm warnings and severe weather watches in Colorado. San Diego had some weird clouds and we saw lots of rain showers on the way out. We decided that we could always turn around or land so we headed out into the unknown. As it turned out, we dodged a few showers and made it to Sedona. After we landed the weather turned pretty bad with high winds and heavy rain. I was afraid that hail might catch the Waiex outside but it was spared any damage. It was the slushy kind and didn't last long. All day Saturday there were dark clouds around Sedona but it was spared most of the heavy weather. In the morning there were a few showers that blew through (one caught us as were trying to load the plane). It eventually cleared enough to launch with the route home clear as well. I can't say enough about how great this aircraft is and how much fun it is to fly. We have now taken weekend trips together to Vegas, Yosemite, Lake Havasu, and Sedona and are planning more fun trips in the future. I love my Waiex.

Hi Jim,

Very, very, well done sir! I enjoyed your video immensely. Perhaps you should take a long trip to Tennessee ... say in a week or so?

:)

I'm glad you all liked the video. I watched all the YouTubes I could find when I was building to keep my motivation up and I still search for them just to see what people are up to. Next I'm going to get a GoPro type camera to the get the great shots that others are posting.

Jim,

For a cheaper version of Gopro google 'SJ4000'. For about 80 bucks on amazon you get a decent camera that does very comparable video to a gopro. Just a suggestion to save about 300 bucks. And check out the youtube videos on how it performs side-by-side... Personaly love Gopros hate the ridiculous price.

Excellent video as always Jim! Looked like a beautiful day for your adventure! Just out of curiousity, what video editing software do you use?

Thanks for sharing!

I used the new 'Hero' on the V-Tail and 'Hero4 Black Edition' on an extension pole around the show for the 'into the cockpit view'. I used iMovie on a Mac Mini to edit the video. I'm going to get a MacBook Pro to bring to Oshkosh next year so I can edit during the evening.
