Hey all - I'm was looking to get feedback on Revmaster installations, has anyone here installed Revmaster instead of the AeroVee?

There are several who have posted in the past, hopefully they will chime in and support you with answers to any questions you have. Revmaster is a good engine from all the reports I have read over the years.
I just did a search for "Revmaster" on this site and got 22 pages of posts. You may want to start there.

I am currently working on firewall-forward and wiring.
Could someone explain to me why the revmaster’s regulators have only two wires, instead of 3 in other regulators (Aerovee is an example.) Those “regular” regulators have two AC in-coming from the alternator, one DC out-coming to the battery, (and a ground, which is usually the body of the unit, attached to the firewall.) The revmaster’s regulator has one AC wire from the alternator, and one wire is kind of “combined” AC and DC through a yellow-wire loop. It looks like AC and DC are connected to each other, which does not make sense to me. On the other hand I do not know what’s inside of that cube, so maybe everything is alright. I just don’t understand it. I’d appreciate the help. Thanks!

The regulator on my Aerovee has 3 tabs, but one of the AC tabs is actually directly connected to the DC tab, so it probably behaves similar to your Revmaster regulator. I've been unable to determine exactly what circuit is inside the regulator, but I believe it to be a half-wave regulator similar to the one described in this patent:

The more obvious voltage regulator design typically uses a full-wave bridge rectifier of 4 diodes and there is no direct connection between the AC and DC tabs. There was a recent post that seems to indicate Sonex has switched to this style regulator (or at least a style where none of the tabs are visibly connected external to the regulator). I haven't heard the reason for the change.

Thank you Chris, this makes sense now. Hope the Revmaster's regulators will work well. There are two of them since the engine has two alternators.
