Does anyone out there have experience with Ellison carbs. I have an EFS-3A on my Jab 3300 and for the second time it has suddenly started running overly rich and drizzles gas when I shut down. The first time it did this I sent it back to Ellison Fluid Systems and they reported that the diaphragm had a hole in it. The cost of that repair was astounding. This time I took off the back plate and the diaphragm seems to be OK. I couldn't find anything else obviously wrong. Anyone have any suggestions other than get a Bing/Aerocarb, etc.? Ellison is non-responsive on the phone and email.

I am not familiar with the Ellison as much as the Rotec but they are very similar.
If the diaphragm and regulator valve are similar between the two, which I fell is the case, it could be one of these 2 things.
1. The spring that pushes on the valve is squished down and isn't putting enough force on the valve to completely close it.
2. The valve o-ring, if free floating, may have shifted out of place and needs to be re-seated. I know Rotec redesigned the valve/o-ring assembly for this very reason.

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked the spring and it seems OK. Tomorrow I'll check the O-ring.
Ellison Fluid Systems overhauled the carb for me about 15 months ago so they were in business then. They still have a web site, email and phone number, but don't answer any queries.
I have a Rotec on my Jab 3300 in the Onex and it runs better than the Ellison. Does anyone know how much a Rotec costs?

I believe they are up to $900 now for the MkII. They run show specials at Sun n Fun and Airventure normally like $100 off and free shipping.
If you want to save on shipping, Brian Kelly from Radial Conversions in Florida is now a Rotec dealer for the U.S. However, I talked with Paul from Rotec earlier this week and Brian has very limited stock of TBI stuff at this time and they are working on getting him all set-up with parts and complete units. So if you can wait a bit your best bet would be to wait until a show or until Brian gets running at 100%.
