Wow. The CASA paper proposes some fairly onerous restrictions on Jab engines operated in Australia (no passengers, no night flying, etc) while the problems they are alleging are sorted out. Though these wouldn't technically be binding on any US homebuilts (right?), I can see where it might bring up liability issues if there were a mishap and the plane wasn't being operated within these restrictions. Sharpie lawyers, an insurance company seeking to avoid paying a claim, etc.
I hope this is all resolved soon.

Hi all,
Comment period extended to 27 nov 2014 on CD1425SS. Looks like taking comments worldwide on jabiriu engines. CASA working w jabiriu to correct issues relating to full or partial engine failures. Comments can be sent to sport@casa.gov.au . Pls read the consultation draft link that dale posted to understand what comments they are looking for. Specific engine / maint./ operational problems or issues . Hopefully this resolved soon. Fly safe!
