High Oil Temps

Just as a reminder.....

Don't over fill the Jabiru engines with oil. You will be greeted by high oil temperatures. I almost messed myself on my first flight after an oil change when my Oil Temps started to climb getting close to 240F....... On investigation after landing, I found two problems....First I had about 1/2 quart too much oil......not sure how that happened, and I also found a baffle that was moving out of place when the cowl was installed. Fixed both of those and my oil temp problems have vanished.

Just a FYI!

Yep, I have found that about 3.2 quarts of oil after a change brings it into the magic "lower 1/3rd" range on the dipstick...

Yup that’s what I thought. Does take much either. Just did my annual and during the maintenance test flight after that found my oil temps increased to 220. Never done that before and suspected that I filled the oily to much. Need to drain some oil.

Thanks for posting this thread as a reminder
