Just finishing up my installation. I haven't installed my baffles or cowl yet, but it looks pretty straight forward.
No real gotchas so far. But be ready to do some pretty major surgury on the cooling fins of #1 cylinder head. And the front of the oil sump. Also, you will need to buy an oil cooler, lines and fittings. All of this is documented in the Sonex install manual.
Use your time now to get your wiring installed. Battery box, contactors, ground plane, and EMS. Much easier to do with the engine off than mounted. I didn't and had to work around the engine. If you are thinking cabin heat, nows the time too.
I also purchased the Sonex rubber mounts. They are better than the stock ones.
Just waiting for my Aerocarb. They have been backordered for over a month but got word today they will be shipped before the holiday.
Last weekend I finally hit the big red button on the panel. The engine turned over like a champ. Oil pressure came up, all temp probes read ambient. Can't wait to actually start the beast.
