Turbo Oil Return Line Question

Hello,
Just reading through the directions for the turbo install before it arrives. The pump to case return line has one drilling and tapping a 1/4" NPT hole just below the oil fill cover. Is this a requirement if there are other unused return points on the sump. I happen to have 3 to choose from. I have the return on the mini sump. The return where the temp sender normally goes under cyl #2 and I have another one that the previous builder made in the side of the sump under cyl #1 for an oil separator I'm removing (he had the standard sump).
I'd prefer not to drill into my already assembled engine if any of these are reasonable options.
The only thing I can think of is that the line may need to be vertical to stop cavitation, but the pump should self prime fine with the gravity feed of oil from the turbo.
Thoughts?
