Engine displays

I am researching avionics to purchase for my Onex (AeroVee Turbo). I would appreciate input on which systems have good compatibility with the AeroVee. I would like to use a single 7" display for flight and engine information but would consider separate smaller displays by different manufacturers if there is an advantage for the engine installation.

I have an MGL Discovery Lite iEFIS with the RDAC-XF-MAP and it works fine (although I'll note that I haven't flown the airplane yet. The engine has been running for 3 years but a combination of turbo problems and life events slowed my build way down over the last 2 years. But I do have 3+ hours on the engine, in 5-15 minute engine runs).
The biggest issue I've had with the MGL Is RF interference with my com radio antenna (which is mounted on the turtledeck about a foot behind the canopy). It seems to leak RFI out the front of the unit (through the display). I sent it in for service and they were able to cut down (but not eliminate) the RF. Its enough that a moderate squelch setting works to keep it at bay. There are some minor annoyances with the MGL's limitations, but there's also a ton of flexibility in its setup and usage. The new MX1 system (which you can order in a landscape format) may be worth looking at closely.

However, I know some of the Dynon guys personally (their HQ is 30 minutes from my house), and if you have the budget for a Dynon setup they are really tough to beat in terms of capability and build quality!

I'm well into my installation of the MX1. Yesterday I wired the V16 radio which will be controlled via the MX1 as will the TT22 transponder (w/SP-12 for ADS-B GPS). By far the radio is the most complicated part to install. Quality shielded wiring, proper grounds, and a good match on the antenna are all musts in order to minimize radio noise/interference. Had to add 1.5" onto the antenna which had been cut by the previous owner. Might actually get the basic wiring done tomorrow and power it all up.

I didn't consider a Sonex restoration project worthy of Dynon or Advanced as the cost gets out of balance very quickly.
