Anyone else got their AeroVee on an Oil monitoring program?

Just got my first report back from Blackstone and the figures are compared to a "Fleet Average". But no idea how many are in that fleet.

Well Blackstone (who I use) tell me they have 5 AeroVee's under monitoring and just became the 6th.

I had planed on using this guy once my plane was up and flying. Seems like a guy that is involved in auto conversions might be a bit more in tune with the experiential market. Not sure.

Might be worth a call to see how many VWs he has in his data base.

EDIT: I gave Larry a call and he doesn't have that many VWs in his database either. He stressed that the usefulness of oil analysis is the trend. For new engines he recommended starting the analysis at the 25 hour oil change. He also recommended flushing the oil cooler at the 10 hour oil change to get any "breakage" that may have accumulated during the initial break in out of the system so that the 25 hour oil change would give good results on which to base the trend.

Wes

P.S. I've worked myself into a bit of a pickle with the fuel system so I'm sitting at the keyboard looking for answers :-)

Yes, I've sent just one sample of my AeroVee to Blackstone at the five hour oil change. The next one will be at 15 hours.

Guys,

How much does Blackstone charge per sample?

Thanks,

Wes

$28.00. They send a sample bottle free, then when you send the sample back in, send the money. It's all in the instructions inside the sample bottle/box.

My plan for oil monitoring: check the level before I fly!

Yes, oil analysis is costly, and pretty boring until something starts to go wrong. Then it's worth every penny.
