Turbo Cooling Pump Wire Connector?

Hello All,

Has anyone else been able to confirm the "proper" (OEM) wiring connector for the Turbo cooling pump?

The Sonex BOM suggests buying 2-wire connectors from Amazon. Standard 2-wire connectors are just fine for the cooling fan; but I'm finding that the water pump receptacle doesn't quite fit the standard 2-wire connector properly. At first I thought a small modification to the "latch" on the male plug would do the trick, but my experience (in other posts here) has shown that its not the best way to go.

Some Google searches haven't turned up anything definitive. After doing some research I think that this Tyco connector (368261-2) is the correct one, but I'm not sure. A similar connector can be found on Amazon from a couple of different sources, but again I'm not 100% sure.

Has anyone successfully purchased and used the proper connector, and can confirm what the product or part # is?

Thanks!

Update: I purchased one of the connectors from Amazon that I listed in my last post. But it was not the correct size, sadly.

I tried the S820 pigtail and it didn't work. I plan on taking the pump in to autoparts stores and see what they have.
Also got the smaller AGPtek® 12 Pipe Aluminum Heat Exchanger Radiator but the ports are 1/4 ID.

All -

I have worked with a local Toyota Dealership to determine that the part # for the wiring connector.

The housing is Toyota part # 90980-11162. This housing comes without any terminals or wires. So you also need the wiring terminals which, if ordered through Toyota, are part # 82998-12440 (which is 1 wire/terminal).

At list prices from a Toyota dealership, two terminals and the housing cost $43.67 + tax. Oof!

I am currently looking at other sources - I have not yet vetted these - but they may be alternatives to paying dealer prices:

https://www.toyotapartsexperts.com/p-te ... 8299812440 (terminals, need 2 @ $6 each)
(Shipping in the US appears to be $3 - $10)

($8 for a "knockoff" part that comes complete with wires & terminals. Ships from the eastern USA. Somewhat expensive shipping)

--OR--

https://www.amazon.com/Connector-2-way-Toyota-Signal-90980-11162/dp/B01E3C6YS2
($15 and free US shipping. But non-prime, sold by 3rd party, takes 1-2 weeks)

Enjoy,

Quick follow-up: The part quoted above does fit the pump! No data yet on how well it will hold up over time; but its a start. Hope this information helps other builders in the future!

P.S. I also have another part on-order, to see if there are two sources we can use for this wiring connector.

Realized that this is an old thread, but I was just wiring up this connector. I found that the plug was blowing fuses when connected as shown on the Sonex print. If I connect it with the negative closest to the pump outlet, and the positive away from the outlet, it runs correctly.
Hope this helps someone.

Yea I also found this to be the case. If you have a spare 9V battery you can quickly test the orientation, the pump will only run when wired correctly. As for the wire connector, I also had a bit of a mismatch with the specified connector and the pump (the connector doesn't properly "latch") and ended up safety wiring it to keep it from wiggling out.
