Burst oil cooler

First start up today only lasted 10 seconds. My spotter shut me down. Oil cooler sprung a leak. Didn’t even have time to check oil pressure. What could be the cause other than a defective reconditioned oil cooler? Top mount

Check the rubber mounting rings between the case and oil cooler closely. Easy place to create a leak. If the cooler truly ruptured and was not defective then check your oil pressure plungers to make sure they are not stuck and not relieving the pressure as they should. Sticking plungers is not an totally uncommon issue.

Cooler was defective or ruptured. Ring gaskets not leaking. Didn’t have time to check oil pressure

Bill -

Search for the thread I started, "Oil Cooler Structural Failure". Lots of info there about a similar issue I had.

Bought a good used genuine vw oil cooler. All good now, except...
my oil pressure won't go above 20 psi.
Aerovee, iEFIS D Lite, VDO oil pressure sender
Also rpm reads 7000 at idle.

Much to work out.
