Change to top mount oil cooler

Postby mike.smith » Sat Jun 10, 2017 11:18 pm

If anyone is interested in changing from a bottom to a top mount oil cooler, I just did it and am very happy with the results. It took a total of about 14 hours, and I've logged it on Kitlog:

I used no RTV anywhere to seal anything and all my CHT's and OT's were as cool as they have ever been.

Old topic, link works, but you have to click on Mike's Sonex, as the link takes you to his RV-7 project. I plan to do this eventually. But I will leave the existing pump in place, and get a new pump cover, either a stock iron one, or a Gene Berg pressure relief model (also iron). More durable than the cast aluminum covers.
