Timing Errors with a Turbo

I just learned that the Turbo Installation Manual has a significant misprint regarding secondary timing. The secondary ignition should be timed 10 degrees after the primary -- not 10 degrees BTDC.

So 18 degrees BTDC ? If I recall correctly? Has Sonex made an update about this?

Yeah, that's how I understand Mark's reply -- 18 degrees BTDC. It certainly seems this takes the secondary ignition right out of the picture. My engine doesn't produce enough power to maintain altitude with the primary ignition turned off using this setting.

What have others set the secondary ignition to??

I'm not sure I like being a beta tester with the turbo...

Scott,

I can tell you that, through a little trial and error, I've had good luck setting my secondary ignition around 24 BTDC. It's a few degrees behind the primary, but I was able to find a sweet spot where the engine runs equally well on either ignition. I set mine there and haven't adjusted it since.

Just my two cents of course...
