OK, I'm going to stick my foot in my mouth. I will be ordering my Waiex in about two months and I know nothing about an Aero vee engine, which I will be using with a turbo. In the automotive world people port and polish their heads to get more horsepower/efficiency from their engine. Are people doing that with their Aero vee engines? Why or why not? Thank you, I love the idea of experimtal aircraft because i can learn so much!

Darrell,
At the RPMs and flow rates we operate at there is little to be gained I think. This is especially true with the turbo which by its nature makes up for sins in the induction system. Plus, more HP means more heat and you can only reject so much to the atmosphere with VW heads. Porting & polishing is great for a dragster or dune buggy with short trips to 7000 RPM, but for droning along at 3200ish I don't see much benefit.
Excellent decision on the Waiex - it is even more cool.
