hi all,
I'm a french private builder of a JPM Loiret and i use an Aerovee engine on my plane with a lot of pleasure.
I build a web site of my construction at this adress:
http://ulmloiret39.olympe.in/acceuil2.htmlI have a question about the position of the cylinder probe: where do you place it? under the plug or on the cylinder fin?
Thank's for your answer
Regards
Ansré

Thank's a lot. So my probe is under the sparkplug. Do you think there's a temperature difference with the Aerovee montage?
I have about 370° on the 3 cylinder at 2800 tr/mn!

Like it says in the above install instructions, this location gives similar readings to the 'under spark plug' location..... The advantage is, similar reading without having to disturb probe every time you remove and install spark plugs.
As for 370 degrees at 2800 rpm, that looks good to me.

Hi Andre,
You don't say what the outside air temperature is to go along with your CHT of 370 degrees F. If that was on a really cold day you might get close to high normal temps on a warm day. For your reference my CHT's are 325, 315, 327, 323 at 3100 rpms. Outside air temperature was 73 degrees and indicated air speed was 118 mph. I am not familiar with your aircraft but airspeed and proper baffling obviously will affect your CHTs.
