Has anyone else had trouble with the Autolite 4163 sparkplug? I was checking one of mine to be sure the cap was on tight. When I tried to screw the cap the entire insulator spun around in the base of the plug. Another plug from another cylinder snapped off where the threads meet the base of the plug. My indicated CHTs have never gone above 410. Is anyone using different plugs and what success have you had.

Maybe I live in a strange area, but I've never had any luck finding the Autolite 4163's at any local auto parts store. When I first got my AeroVee kit, one of the 4163's had a cracked insulator and I took that as a bad omen!

I've tried the NGK cross reference and those plugs were okay, but for the past 75 hours I've been using standard Champion RA6HC, part number 809 at Autozone. I haven't had any issues with these plugs and they seem to work fine for me. At $1.99 per plug, the price is right for me as well!

I've had this exact same failure on two Autolite plugs. They were older ones, and the newer ones we're running now haven't failed in that manner (yet). I had never come across that type of failure before, but I check for it regularly now.

Advance Auto Parts carries them in a two pack for just under $4 in the small
engine section at the one here.
