Strange issue - engine stalls

Postby floridasonex » Mon Jun 16, 2014 10:50 am

Ok .. this one has me baffled.

Sonex Trigear
Aerovee with Aeroinjector
90 hrs on plane

After I land when I slow to walking speed and make a left u turn on the runway to backtaxi
the engine stalls for a moment .. then goes. Doesn't seem to do it in a tight right turn.
No problems in the air .. in the pattern .. or anyplace else. I have an outside air duct
to the carb area (not ram air) and it does it with that open or closed.
The fuel line is the braided stainless wrapped in insulation with the silver coating,
like you'd use on a firewall. Shield between it and the exhaust pipe. Wrapped
exhaust.

Any ideas?

RT,
My Aerovee, Aerocarb hesitates like you described when I make a slow left turn to stop to run-up before takeoff. It has done it since I purchased it at 90 hrs. and still does it at 228 hrs. It concerned me at first, but doesn't anymore. My engine has never hesitated on takeoff, except when I forget to push the mixture full rich.

Ken ... are you using autogas? I am starting recently. Never had this with 100LL.

Roger

I am using 100 exclusively now. I started with 100, went to a 100LL/93 auto mix, now I'm just going to stick with 100. It has hesitated on the left turn no matter which fuel I used and it happens just ocassionally. I figure it is because I lean very aggressively at idle.
