Engine mounts sagging

Discussion of the Aerovee kit engine.

I had the same problem with engine sag with the prop hub rubbing the cowl outlet after about a year of flying. I turned Delrin rod on a mini-lathe for a tight formed fit & used the Delrin mounts in conjunction with the Sonex rubber mounts. Top mounts have Delrin forward with rubber behind and the bottom mounts have Delrin back and rubber forward. Engine smoothness is the same with no sag. Other Acetals may work also, but I found Delrin easier to cut & machine / shape, and is self lubricating.

That's a great idea Lou! The video link was cool, was that supposed to be bushings or the speed record?

Hi Bryan,
Maybe the speed record wore out my rubber bushings early? Not really....

Undoubtedly! I just figured out that the youtube link was in your signature.

A quick progress report on the Super Pro bushings, I have about 200 flight hours on them now and no sagging.
