We've got one of these tiny solar battery tenders strapped to our wing at the tie down, with a connector by the cowl exit. Keeps the battery topped up (which is extra important with a plane like ours that's under maintenance and isn't flying). I guess if you're somewhere north with barely any daylight in the winter, that won't work so well, though...
