Tom,
I assume you replaced the shunt with a new one.... have you checked the sense wires to pins 24/25 of the EMS for resistance to make sure they're not damaged? Considering the higher voltage now, the voltage regulator may have been damaged in the previous electrical turmoil. 14.9 volts is pretty high and could indicate that the regulator is in the process of failing. It might be prudent to replace it now rather than wait and see what happens later.
Also, out of curiosity, where was the circuit breaker located in your electrical system diagram? Knowing where it was can help pin down exactly why it popped.
