Depending on how much fuel made it into the cylinders and how cold it is where you are at, it may or may not clear it up. To make sure you get is started I would pull the plugs (all of them) clean them up and pull the engine through with the starter (plugs out and ignition off, fuel off) to blow out any fuel. reinstall plugs and give it a shot. Then make sure your fuel is off after shut down and see if you can start it cold on another day. I would at the very least wire brush the electrode on the plugs. The plugs if really flooded will get a black gummy appearance and need cleaning to be able to fire properly. Once running if leaned properly it will clean up itself under heat and load. The reason I say all the plugs is because many engine designs start on one set of plugs and immediately start firing both when the engine starts running at operational speed. Rev master uses the bottom plugs as the start plugs, unsure about other vw designs. It may be easier to replace all the plugs rather than clean them, probably only $25 to do that.

Hello,

What was the outside temperature the night before you tried to start the engine? Did you use any preheat?

Did you peen the threads of the needle carrier? If not it could vibrate out of position.

I would try running the starter with the fuel valve off for about 5 seconds to clear any flooding, then starting as normal.

I did try running the starter with the fuel valve off and the mixture lean. That didn't help. In the next day or two I will go to the hangar and take the plugs out and see what the situation is. It was cold and I did not use any preheat.
