Ryan,

I do remember mine getting hotter at higher altitudes as well the few times I tested the turbo between 7,000-9,500'. I only flew up there a few times but mine ran hotter as well. I don't recall oil ever being an issue, but in order to keep the CHTs reasonable (I seem to recall they ran 20-30 degrees hotter up there) I had to richen my mixture a little bit. I hated doing that because I didn't want to foul spark plugs but if I lowered EGTs by 100-150 degrees, that helped keep the cylinders at a reasonable temperature. Of course at that point I was burning nearly 7 gallons per hour so it was a trade off!

I believe being lean of peak is actually the coolest range for temps as far as i remember seen a couple webinars from mike bush talking about that assuming you can ensure no detonation. I assume the aerovee turbo is better about distribution of fuel than the standard aerovee due to the pull through setup so lean of peak operations may not be as bad in that case assuming you are running 4 sensors. That being said it really depends on what engine monitoring you have available for engine parameters and if you want to run lean of peak. With the extra compression and heat generated from that process i am not sure how knock sensitive it is.
