My engine is pretty much broken in, and has excellent and ballanced compressions, head temps and nearly ballanced egt, with a spread of 110 deg. With that little background, I ask... has anyone experimented with the angle relative to the bottom of the forward fuse of the vent tube? I do have an oil seperator, and do recover oil back into the LH rocker box, and have not noticed much if any oil usage, however, I still have a pretty good "greasey side" (the bottom of the fuse) to deal with after several hours (10?) to have to clean. Currently the angle relative to the bottom is the same angle as the firewall. I am thinking there is enough 'updraft' at the exit point to cause the oil mist to collect on the bottom further aft of the vent. Currently the pipe end is sliced at about 60 deg relative to its long dimention. What I need to know, what are others using for the pipe angle relative to the botton fuse, parrellel to the fire wall, or pointed 90 deg to the fuse bottom? and if the pipe is sliced at some degree or cut off at 90 deg relative to the long dim of the pipe.? I dont want to bend the pipe and find out all I have done is sucked more mist out. This isnt a really serious problem, but still a PITA, just like in the 172 for all those years!!
